Foundations Laid

After the archaeologists have done their work, the builders return to lay the concrete foundations.

It's great weather for laying bricks! Progress is rapid, with walls, doors and windows taking shape. After a week's delay, the project is back on schedule. The aim is to finish the external construction by Christmas and internal fixtures and fittings by Easter.

Look at that lovely blue sky! The weather has been on our side and the windows and door frames are now built in.

Inner Floorspace
The inside floor space is now completely defined. Inner block walls and insulation are rising with the external brick work. Tomorrow the scaffolding will go up.
ALL the men working on the project are local - mainly from Steyning, Upper Beeding or Small Dole. Most were born here and educated at local schools.

The external walls have reached roof height. Some of the steel beams, which will support the upper floor, are in place. Eventually the Museum window will become a doorway into the extension.
