Adur Frozen at Beeding Bridge 1954

Yes, it's true! The River Adur turned to ice.

The picture above wasn't taken in April 2008, of course, but in February 1954. This view of Beeding Bridge, held in the Steyning Museum archives, may shock many local people who are used to milder winters. Photographs of the weather are becoming ever more fascinating to local historians.
